A house dog, not a yard dog
In homes with a gate and a garden, it is common for a dog to live outside, on the porch or tied near the gate. A Goldendoodle should not. It was bred as a companion, it wants to be wherever the family is, and a lonely Goldendoodle soon becomes a noisy, destructive one.
- Give it a bed indoors, in the rooms where the family spends its evenings.
- Use the garden for play, training and toilet breaks, with someone out there with it.

Puppies explore with their mouths, and a Goldendoodle puppy will chew and dig its way round a garden. Before it arrives, walk the garden and deal with these.
Plants that are toxic to dogs
Several plants common in Indian gardens can make a dog seriously ill if chewed:
- Oleander (kaner): every part of the plant is highly toxic.
- Sago palm (cycas): especially the seeds; can cause liver failure.
- Dieffenbachia: a popular potted plant that burns the mouth and throat.
- Lantana: the berries are toxic, particularly unripe ones.
Remove them or fence them off, and call a vet straight away if your dog has chewed one. Store fertilisers, pest killers and rat poison where no dog can reach them.
Digging and mud
Many Goldendoodles love to dig. Give yours one corner where digging is allowed, and bury a toy there for it to find. A muddy doodle coat needs its legs and belly rinsed and dried to the skin, or the dirt works down into mats.

Stairs in a multi-storey family home
Many Faridabad houses have two or three floors, with family members spread across them. A Goldendoodle will want to follow everyone up and down, but a growing puppy's joints are still forming until it is fully grown, and both Golden Retrievers and Poodles can pass on hip and elbow problems.
- Carry a young puppy up and down stairs.
- Put a baby gate at the top and bottom so it cannot race up alone.
- Let an older puppy take the stairs slowly, on a lead, not at a gallop.

Decide which floor the dog lives on day to day, so it is not climbing all day long.
Water play in a Faridabad summer
The Golden Retriever side often brings a love of water, and in a house with outdoor space you can use that to keep a Goldendoodle cool. A shallow paddling pool in the shade, filled in the early morning, gives it a place to splash; a gentle spray from a hose on the legs and belly cools it down after a walk.
Afterwards, dry the coat and the ears thoroughly. A doodle coat left damp in the heat is the quickest route to hot spots and ear infections. Registering your Goldendoodle in Faridabad
The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad's dog registration policy, in force since January 2023, requires pet dogs to be registered within a month, with a first-time fee of ₹1,500. The corporation has also said unregistered dogs found in its inspection drives can be fined.
