If your home has outdoor space, this athletic, low-shedding dog will make good use of it, as long as the gate is secure and the daily walk still happens. Getting a house, terrace or garden ready
Independent houses and builder floors with a terrace or a small garden are common in Faridabad, and outdoor space is a real advantage for a large, athletic dog. It also brings risks a flat does not. Deal with these before the puppy arrives.
The gate and boundary
A grown Standard Poodle is tall, springy and clever enough to work out a latch. Check that gates close by themselves or are always kept bolted, that there are no gaps under or beside them, and that walls are high enough that a bored adult cannot scramble over. Visitors, drivers and delivery staff need to know to shut the gate every time.
The terrace
A concrete roof in summer gets much hotter than the air, hot enough to burn paws within minutes. Keep the terrace for supervised play early in the morning or in the evening. Check the parapet for gaps a puppy could squeeze through, cover or fence off water tanks and open drains, and never leave the dog up there alone.
The garden
Puppies taste everything. Oleander, widely planted in Indian gardens, is highly toxic to dogs, as are several other ornamental plants, so check what grows in yours and fence off or remove anything risky. Store fertilisers, pesticides and rat poison well out of reach, and check with your vet before treating the lawn.
Community dogs in the lane
Many residential lanes have community dogs. Until your vet says the vaccinations are complete, keep your puppy inside your own gate and carry it for any outings. After that, choose walking routes and times that avoid confrontations, and keep your Poodle on a lead.
Registering your Standard Poodle in Faridabad
The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) brought a dog registration policy into force in January 2023. As reported:
- Register within a month of bringing your dog home.
- Fee: ₹1,500 for first-time registration.
- Penalty: the corporation has said unregistered pet dogs found during inspection drives can attract a ₹15,000 fine.
Keep your puppy's vaccination records, including the rabies vaccination once it is given, ready for registration. Rules and fees change, so confirm the current process with MCF when your puppy comes home.
A family breed, not a restricted one
After several serious dog attacks in the region, many buyers ask whether their breed is affected by restrictions. The Standard Poodle is not among the 23 breeds the Centre directed states to ban for sale and breeding, a list made up of large guarding and fighting breeds such as the pit bull terrier and Rottweiler. It is a gentle, people-focused dog, but registration, a lead in public and good manners still apply.
Garden coats: ticks, grass seeds and grooming
A Poodle that spends time in a garden brings the garden in with it. The curly coat that keeps loose hair off your furniture is also very good at trapping ticks, grass seeds and burrs.
- Tick checks after every garden session in the warm months, working through the coat to the skin around the ears, neck, armpits, toes and tail. Ask your vet about a tick preventive suited to a puppy.
- Grass seeds work their way into ears, between toes and under the arms. Head-shaking, paw-licking or a sudden limp after garden time are worth a close look.
- Brush to the skin three to four times a week, and more often when the garden is dry and dusty.
- Keep a short sport clip through the warm months so checks are quick, and book a groomer who can scissor a Poodle coat every six to eight weeks, at around ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 a session.
Faridabad's summers and winter air
Faridabad shares the NCR climate: very hot summers, a humid monsoon and cold winters when air quality often falls to very poor levels. Walk before 7 am from April to September, keep midday indoors, and on bad AQI days replace the walk with indoor training and puzzle games. Our NCR care calendar sets out what to do month by month.
From Bathinda to Faridabad
Our puppies are raised in Bathinda, about 350 km from Faridabad by road. You can collect your puppy from us in Bathinda, which is also the best chance to meet the parents and see where the litter was raised. When we deliver, your puppy travels by car with a responsible person and is handed to you in person. Puppies are never sent alone as cargo. We do not transport puppies in extreme heat; the journey waits for a safe day. Before delivery, we set up a live video call so you can see your puppy and its mother. Ask us about delivery timing and any cost for your city before you book.
Where is the litter?
Wherever you buy, the litter has to be somewhere, and that is where you should look. Ask any seller where the puppies are being raised and whether you can see them there, in person or live on video. Our answer is Bathinda, and yes. Have the house and garden checks above done before handover day, so your puppy arrives to a safe space.

Standard Poodles in Faridabad: Your Questions
Is a house with a garden better for a Standard Poodle than a flat?
It helps, but it does not replace the walk. A garden or terrace gives a Standard Poodle somewhere to play and sniff, yet it still needs a proper walk every day and time with its family. A Poodle left alone in a garden gets bored quickly and starts digging, barking or testing the gate.
Do I need to register my Standard Poodle with the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad?
Yes. Under the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad's policy, in force since January 2023, pet dogs must be registered within a month, with a first-time registration fee of ₹1,500. The corporation has said unregistered dogs found in inspection drives can attract a ₹15,000 fine. Check the current process with MCF when your puppy comes home.
Is the Standard Poodle a restricted or banned breed?
No. The Standard Poodle is not among the 23 breeds the Centre directed states to ban for sale and breeding, a list made up of large guarding and fighting breeds such as the pit bull terrier and Rottweiler. It is a gentle family breed, but like any dog it must be registered and kept under control in public.
Can my Standard Poodle stay on the terrace?
Not in the heat. A concrete roof terrace in a Faridabad summer gets far hotter than the air and can burn paws within minutes. Use the terrace for supervised play in the early morning or evening only, check that the parapet has no gaps, and never leave the dog up there alone.
How do I check a Standard Poodle for ticks after garden play?
Run your fingers slowly through the coat down to the skin, paying attention to the ears, neck, armpits, between the toes and under the tail. A curly coat hides ticks well, so check after every garden session in the warm months, and ask your vet about a suitable tick preventive.
